The Power of Our Tongues
Our tongue is a powerful tool, it can either bring life or death unto the hearer and/or situation. Proverbs 18:20-21
All praises to the Most High Yahuah when he said in his WORD through Yahusha his beloved Son, it is not what goes into the mouth that defiles the man, but what comes out of the mouth defiles the man. Matthew 15:11
Everyday, we probably speak at least one, if not two negative words or statements without even realizing it.
Things like…
“You are killing me”
“You make me sick”
“You are so crazy”
“I’m dying inside”
“I love you to death”
“You are a mess”
“I’m a mess right now”
“My kids are so bad”
“You or a certain thing is driving me crazy”
“You get on my nerves”
And yes, there are many others. We speak these phases without even being cognizant of what we are truly saying.
Then there are the other subtle statements we may make about someone or something. Even if the person who we may be speaking about is not around to hear it, it can be considered idle talk, which is also dangerous when you are a daughter of the Most High.
Did you know that scripture tells us that every idle word that proceeds out of our mouth Yahusha will judge? As it is written in Matthew 12:35 - The good man brings forth what is good from the good treasures of his heart, and the wicked man brings forth what is wicked from the wicked treasure. vs. 36 And I say unto you that for every idle word men speak, they shall give an account of it on the day of judgment.
That’s kind of scary, right ladies, isn’t it? Just think, when we stand before the Righteous Judgment Seat of the Almighty, we will have to explain why we said such a thing.
I don’t know about you, but we feel a shift coming that has awakened us to the point of growing in every area of our life and guarding our tongue is included in this growth process. We cannot allow the temptation to expel out of our mouths the first thing that comes to our minds; but instead, let our conversations be filled with the fruits of Yah’s Spirit, so that He may be glorified through our righteous living.
Just think, we can become a positive catalyst for all those we come in contact with. Just imagine, the conversations we may have on our jobs with our coworkers, our family members, and even with ourselves (especially with ourselves, because we can be our worst enemy in terms of what we think about who we are) Yes, our thoughts count as well Daughters of Zion. (2 Timothy 1:7; Proverbs 4:23 are just a couple scriptures to reflect upon)
Remember our words mean so much, and it determines whether they will bring life or death in the lives of those we are around and are in communication with.
They also demonstrate whose side we are on, that of Abba Yahuah or that of the enemy, Ha`Satan. That does not mean we cannot speak the truth concerning a situation, but we must learn to speak it in love. Ask the Ruach if you have trouble in this area, to teach you how to season your words with grace, mercy and empathy. Become mindful of what you are saying, and ask yourself, who did these words benefit? If you found no growth in them, keep them out of your vocabulary.
Here are some scriptures that will help you meditate on the subject of your tongue. We pray that they will help you in your spiritual walk, as they have helped us to grow in Yahusha Ha`Mashiach.
Remember we are the Light of the World!
